Jim Merrill has taught high school in California, Colorado and Oregon. For a year he lived at the Zen Center of LA where he received meditation training from its founder, Maezumi Roshi. He received an MFA in writing at the Naropa Institute (The Jack Kerouac School). In 1998 Jim taught writing at Beijing Agricultural University. Elena Passarello with Animals Strike Curious Poses

Elena Passarello is the author of two essay collections, Let Me Clear My Throat and Animals Strike Curious Poses, which was a New York Times Notable Book of 2017 and will be reprinted in Germany, Italy, and the UK. Her essays on performance, pop culture, and the natural world recently appeared in Oxford American, Virginia Quarterly Review, and the New York Times, as well as the anthologies Little Boxes: Twelve Writers on Television and Cat is Art Spelled Wrong.
