Charles R. Castle, Jr was born in Maine in 1951 and has lived in Eugene, Oregon since 1978. His heart is in Oregon. His roots are deep in colonial New England. He worked 27 years in healthcare education and public affairs, with a few years spent in the building trades. He was published as a young writer in Hanging Loose. He returned to poetry and prose writing after retiring in 2015, publishing three books of poems; Living with Patriarchs and the Twelve Poems of Goodwin Hatch, A Season’s Second Coming, and A Good-night in America. Truman Price at Book Bin Salem

Truman Price has played oldtime fiddle for over 50 years. He has played in many styles but is known for his Appalachian fiddle, learned when living in the New River Valley of Southwest Virginia. He added a few Scandinavian tunes when living in Northern Minnesota. Study of Pa Ingalls’s repertoire (Little House on the Prairie) led to development of an Oregon Trail program, which he has given on over a hundred occasions for the Oregon Historical Society and other groups; he has also taught traditional old-time dances to 14,000 students in Oregon. Our poet this month will be A. Molotkov. Born in Russia, he moved to the US in 1990 and switched to writing in English in 1993. Published by Kenyon Review, Iowa Review, Cincinnati Review, Tampa Review, Raleigh Review, Cider Press Review, Pif, 2 River and elsewhere, Molotkov is the winner of several short fiction and poetry contests and a 2015 Oregon Literary Fellowship.
