Dennis hails from Chicago where he worked as a clinical psychologist before migrating with his wife to Oregon forty years ago to raise a family. This year, Start Making a Reader Today (SMART) celebrates 25 years of providing reading support and books to Oregon children. That’s a milestone worth celebrating! Since 1992, SMART has connected more than 118,000 community volunteers with over 188,000 students across Oregon for one-on-one reading support, and given children 2.4 million books to take home and keep.
